Handspun Hope
Handspun Hand-Dyed Organic Merino DK
Handspun Hand-Dyed Organic Merino DK
The wool from our own flock of Merino sheep is triple-washed before the ladies of Handspun Hope begin creating yarn using the age-old craft of spinning with only wheels and hand tools and then dyed organically in dye baths made of primarily Rwandan plants.
Please note, due to the characteristic of natural fibers, actual color may vary slightly between skeins. We recommend alternating skeins during knitting. Hand wash, lay flat to dry in shade, and do not iron.
Handspun Hope is a sustainable brand committed to ethically-sourced materials and minimal environmental impact. Our sheep receive meticulous 24-hour care so they will continue producing quality fleeces for the ladies working for Handspun Hope.
This project gives over 200 women, most of them widows and orphaned survivors of the Genocide against the Tutsi, dignified employment. Handspun Hope is a certified member of the Fair Trade Federation, which guarantees fair wages and working conditions for the artisans.
Hand-dyed yarns have subtle variations that cause colors to vary from skein to skein. As this is a natural part of the process, please note there may be differences between the yarn images shown and the yarn received. Therefore, we encourage buying enough yarn for the entire project at the same time. You can always call the shop for color verification.
